Seasonal specials. Product launches. Maximum footfall and up selling, cross promotion and friend get friend. As Lead Writer and Brand Guardian, I was at the creative helm of this ‘fast-as-lightning’ CRM. We used human and data insights to create genuinely personal customer communications. Pulling in thousands of new Costa Club members and growing the account from a handful of beans to multi-millions.

“Hi, we need a letter sent to the winners of a Virgin Holidays honeymoon. Oh, and could you write it in an hour for our weekly CEO meeting?” I listened to Richard Branson talking on YouTube and worked out how he’d pass on his congratulations in simple, sincere way. Sir Richard signed it off instantly.

Every second counts to a small business owner. Microsoft adCenter makes every penny of a budget work hard, using keywords to target only the people who are right for your product. Now when a new customer gets in touch, you know they’re serious.

Ford Ka ‘Go Find It’ – films, visuals, site, app, banners, blogs, stunts

This ground-breaking campaign won ten awards, including two DMAs. It was the first use of a marketing QR code in Europe, and first branded Google Maps API site. As Lead Creative, I shot films, devised content strategy, briefed influencers, problem-solved with coders, masterminded a clean graffiti stunt in Berlin… oh, and wrote all the copy.

Getting people to save money

At M&C Saatchi, I concepted and wrote award-winning customer copy for O2, across emails, banners, SMS, push notification and direct mail. Here’s one of our most-successful emails – a playful way to talk directly to hardworking, cash-pressed families, in their own language.
